General Questions

  • The main wedding, i.e. the ceremony, wedding dinner, DJ, etc. will be on the 20th of September.

We also plan to have a wedding pre-party on a cruise along the river Douro in Porto on the 19th of September. This event is optional; we just wanted to invite our guests to the country of our wedding by inviting you to a ride along one of the most iconic & scenic views of the city.

In case you just plan to join for the wedding day (20th), we recommend arriving at least on the night of the 19th, i.e. the day before the wedding. This way you will not be in a hurry to get to the wedding venue on the wedding day.

However, we also understand that many of you might just decide to arrive on the day of the wedding. In this case, we recommend arriving in the morning so that you can take an Uber/taxi to the venue (or to the hotel in case you plan to get changed prior arrival to the venue).

  • The best mode of transport in general would be Uber. In our experience, and according to our wedding planners, Uber is extremely efficient in the Porto and Oliveira de Azeméis area.

Public transport is also an option for travelling within the city. The city has several tram & bus lines plying to different parts of the city. We do not recommend taking public transport to the venue because it may be extremely time consuming.

  • 19th of September (Boat Cruise in Porto)

Casual clothing. No dress code. Feel free to wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

    20th of September (Wedding Day)

We would love to keep the wedding colourful, which is why we recommend our guests to have colourful attire. We have created a page to give some ideas to our guests: here.

We do not recommend wearing stilettos on this day because part of the wedding will be outdoors on a lawn. Block heels, wedges, or cute flats might be a lot comfier for mingling, dancing, and not sinking into the grass!

  • Firstly, your presence is the biggest gift for us all. We also know that you would have spent a lot to come to Portugal to celebrate this event with us, so we do not expect any additional gifts. This will probably be one of the only occasions in our lives where friends & families of the bride & groom will meet each other on such a large scale, so we want to make this an event to remember & this is the most important thing for us.

However if you would still like to send us a gift, it would be easier for us if you gift us in cash at the wedding or via bank transfer. We will leave for a mini-honeymoon after our wedding, so we will not have much luggage to fit in the wedding gifts. As all of you would also be travelling from abroad, it would also save you luggage space during your own travels :)

  • For guests who would like to stay close to the wedding venue on the night of the wedding, we recommend two hotels:

    1. Hotel Dighton in Oliveira de Azeméis

    2. Golden Tulip in São João da Madeira

You could also find other options for stays near the wedding the venue but you will have to be quick because most of them tend to get sold out quickly. There are, of course, more options for hotels or Airbnb stays in the big city of Porto.

For the night before (19th) and after the wedding (21st), we recommend booking a hotel or Airbnb in the city of Porto itself.

Boat cruise on the 19th - Frequently Asked Questions

  • The cruise starts at 16:30 and the cruise organiser recommends arriving at least 15 minutes prior to departure. Because we will have several people meeting each other for the first time, we recommend arriving at 16:00.

  • The meeting point lies in the middle of the city, so taking public transport or coming on foot should totally be possible. However, taking an Uber or taxi should also be possible.

  • Casual clothing. There is no dress code :D

Feel free to wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

  • Yes, kids are welcome to join the boat cruise!

Wedding day on the 20th - Frequently Asked Questions

  • We recommend arriving at the venue between 14:30 & 15:00.

  • The ceremony starts at 15:00.

  • The best mode of transport in general would be Uber. In our experience, and according to our wedding planners, Uber is extremely efficient in the Porto and Oliveira de Azeméis area. We recommend taking an Uber to and from the venue.

We do not recommend taking public transport to the venue because it may be extremely time consuming.

Alternatively, if you are driving yourself to the venue, you can also do so because there are plenty of parking spots at the venue.

  • Yes, there is plenty of parking available at the venue so feel free to get your own (or rental) car. You can also pick it up the next day if you decide to take an Uber back to your hotel.

  • We would love to keep the wedding colourful, which is why we recommend our guests to have colourful attire. We have created a page to give some ideas to our guests: here.

We do not recommend wearing stilettos on this day because part of the wedding will be outdoors on a lawn. Block heels, wedges, or cute flats might be a lot comfier for mingling, dancing, and not sinking into the grass!

  • Barring inclement weather in the form of rain or any other kind of precipitation (fingers crossed), we plan to enjoy the afternoon with some live music & cocktails, outdoors on the lawn, until sunset.

After sunset, we plan to move indoors to enjoy the dinner. Post-dinner, we plan to stay indoors for the DJ, drinks and dessert but people are welcome to enjoy the fresh air outside too!

  • We will have a plated menu for our wedding dinner which will be served to you on the table (i.e. it will not be a buffet dinner).

We have assigned seats to our guests at the dinner table & the servers know your dietary preferences based on your seating location.

  • Yes, if you have dietary restrictions such as vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, they can certainly be catered to. There will be a separate version of the meal created for you.

In case you are allergic to anything specific, e.g. mushrooms, avocado, etc., please let us know so that they can be left out of your meal.

We, our wedding planners and, most importantly, our chef take your food restrictions seriously (the chef herself is vegan), so please let us know in advance about your allergies/dietary restrictions via the RSVP page.

  • There will be assigned seating on the dinner tables for the wedding dinner. During the rest of the day, such as the ceremony, cocktail, etc. you can feel free to have a seat anywhere & mingle with the crowd.

For the dinner, we decided to have fixed seating because of the dietary restrictions of our guests (the servers will be directed to bring diet-specific meals to the guests, if applicable) & we have also made sure that you have someone interesting to talk, seated to next to you ;)
